What is wrong with my ru.po?

Maybe my I18N/ru.po file is too big? (232 kb)
I cant get loc(“Clone”) and many others records… i’m stuck

Failing test code:

my $hand = RT::I18N->get_handle(‘ru’);
$m->print($hand->maketext(‘Clone’)); # Failed!
$m->print($hand->maketext(‘Calendars’)); # Ok!
</%perl>

пїЅ Dies with English content ‘Clone’, but Most others transaltions in this
file works just fine!

First, make sure that your ru.po is generated by ‘make regenerate-catalogs’.
Then clean the resulting ru.po removing all strings no more present in
the source :

perl -00ne 'print unless /NOT FOUND/' ru.po > ru2.po && mv ru2.po ru.po

Last, there was a glitch in RT source code that would cause ‘make
regen…’ to generate badly formed .po.
Use C to lookup for errors, correct them (by deleting
offending lines, there should be a few), re-run ru.po, retranslate (I
use kbabel), install, and it should be ok

I write it by my hands, and file syntax seems to be ok

I believe that this file is just a hash of key/value pairs.

ru.po was retranslated and adapted for 3.4.2, afair. In few days i’ll
try to find some time to create new translation :slight_smile:

It may be useful, but certainly not in the automated way suggested by
Jérôme. There are strings that come from the database or config files
(ie: status labels, “NEW_LINE”, and so on) that are not found in the
source files, but are nonetheless translated at runtime.

On the other hand there are strings that changed in the english version,
and can thus be deleted safely from the translation. But this can only
be discovered by multiple iterations of a careful review on a running
instance.

Im really sorry, it was just stupid syntax errror in my file:
1: msgid “”
2: msgid “” AGAIN! instead of msgstr “”
