User sig

Hi,

Has anyone made a modification that will give the option for a user to have
their signature on the top (before the quote) or bottom (after the quote)
of a reply to message.

Cheers,

Has anyone made a modification that will give the option for a user to have

of a reply to message.

Why would you want that? Putting the signature on the top will cause
most MUAs to discard everything below that when replying. That is,
everything in the e-mail, making quoting very difficult.

If you want it because you want to support the users’ tendency to top
post, please see http://www.caliburn.nl/topposting.html before
continueing.

(All possible flames about this e-mail should be sent directly to me,
not to the list.)

In addition to bottom-posting, it is customary to leave out non-relevant parts of the message with regard to the reply, and to put the reply directly beneath the quoted relevant parts.

We deal with support users, some of which if you said newsgroup/usenet or even FTP to they would get confused. We deal with the wonderfulness of RTs system of quoting an entire message so that you can ‘bottom-post’, however have you ever tried to scroll through 400 lines of quoting to write a message?

By preference I normally cut out lines that are not required and reply after any qouting (with a few blank lines to show where the reply is) but when it comes to RT Emails this is inpossible. If the sig was placed at the top of the message then the message will still be qouted but only up to where the last sig starts, which is fine as if no modifications have been made to the message the older quoting will be removed from the post when the user hits reply.

Just to make a point if you reply to this message would you want me to goto the bottom leave everything the same and let you parse through the message I had quoted but not used?

Do you understand why this feature would be better for us? Also note I already know how to modify RT to place the sig at the top, but I wanted an option to allow it to be selected.

Cheers,

Bruce
