Upgrading RTIR

Hello all

First post from me - so apologies if this is a dumb question.

I’ve had RT 3.8.15 and RTIR 2.6.1 on a test system for some time.

Trying to move things into production, I’m upgrading to RT 4.0.18
and RTIR 3.0.0.

I dumped my ‘rt3’ database (MySQL) as a backup with
mysqldump --opt --skip-lock-tables --single-transaction --default-character-set=binary -u rt_user -pXX rt3 > rt3-backup

I then imported that back into ‘rt4’ and installed RT, which all seemed to go fine.

Trying to then install RTIR:

perl Makefile.PL
make install
make upgrade-database
Enter RT::IR version you’re upgrading from: 2.6.1

I get:

Processing 2.6.2
Now inserting data.
Processing 2.9.0
Now inserting data.
[31599] [Tue Nov 12 15:43:13 2013] [info]: Changed lifecycle of queue ‘Incidents’ to ‘incidents’ (./etc/upgrade/2.9.0/content:150)
[31599] [Tue Nov 12 15:43:13 2013] [info]: Changed lifecycle of queue ‘Incident Reports’ to ‘incident_reports’ (./etc/upgrade/2.9.0/content:150)

[31599] [Tue Nov 12 15:43:13 2013] [info]: Changed lifecycle of queue ‘Blocks’ to ‘blocks’ (./etc/upgrade/2.9.0/content:150)

And the process just seems to sit there.

mysqladmin processlist shows:

| 51 | rt_user | localhost | rt4 | Query | 621 | Sending data | DELETE FROM ObjectCustomFieldValues WHERE id IN (SELECT main.OldReference AS oldreference FROM Trans |

After a couple of hours this morning I gave up.

Before I throw out my data (users and configuration - there aren’t really
any active tickets in the DB) and just install RT 4.0.18 and then RTIR from scratch

    • is there anything I’m missing?

Thanks.

They help significantly with performance during the upgrade.

Apologies for missing this step - I think I had spotted
it during reading the different UPGRADING docs.

“Significantly” is an understatement - the upgrade then took
about a minute as opposed to spinning around for so many hours
I killed it off twice today.
