Upgrading an old installation

Hi,

I am currently running RT 4.2.12 on bare metal and would like to upgrade to the latest version via docker. We are retiring the hardware that RT is currently running on.

Can I just spin up a docker container with the latest version and point it to the old database?

I know this is an old version, but RT was just one of those packages that we just setup and forgot about; it just worked.

Any advise would be appreciated.

No, you’ll need to update the database etc and quite possibly update the db server depending on how old it is. There are lots of docs on the upgrade process. We’ve just done a similar migration and while lengthy, it wasn’t to bad.
