Upgrade from 2.X to 3.0.6 steps?

Anyone know the steps to upgrade a rt2 mysql DB to a rt3 mysql db? I
tried the tool and its asking me for a dump file and I tried a

./mysqldump --opt rt2 -u root -p > backup.sql

I also tried a tab delimited dump and nothing is working right.

I got it, thanks! I was under the impression I had to export the DB
