Strip mime - does it work or break RT?

I seem to recall someone here suggested strip mime would filter
attachments sent to an RT queue. This is something I’d like to be able
to do as these attachments make a real mess!!!

I also recall someone had a problem with strip mime breaking RT?

I looked through the archived but did not find the messages. Anyone have
any input on this?

Thanks!

I’ve had problems with stripmime and queues with spaces in their names.
Besides that, It’s a godsend.

Linux is like a Vorlon. It is incredibly powerful, gives terse,
cryptic answers and has a lot of things going on in the background.

Hi Randy, I’m using strip-mime with RT 1.0.2 on Solaris 7… works like a
charm.

Recent versions of MIME::Parser break it. Try the attached version instead
(warning: probably won’t work with older versions, and you will want to
customize it for your installation).

Randy,

I wrote the original version of stripmime as just a very simple ‘filter’
for mail headed to RT – it was really an ad hoc hack designed to work
with RT 0.99; I submitted it with the hope that it would be useful to
others, but as upgrades to RT and the Mime parser modules are made, it
will probably need enhancement…

But just from a practical standpoint, we use it in a fairly heavy-load RT
environment with over 15,000 tickets so far and there has never been a
hiccup from it since day one.

The modified version that was just posted should probably be added to my
version in the /pub/rt/contrib directory.

Good luck with it – it’s pretty simple.
