Size limitation on attachments?

Is the 1-meg size limitation on attachments a configurable limit? Anyone
know how to bump that up?

It didn’t work for me. The question was answered with

increase “max_allowed_packet” in my.cnf for mysql 4

however this did nothing for my circumstance which involved attempting
to migrate RT2 to RT3 including attachments up to 1.1MB in size.
Eventually I just gave up.

the consensus was it was an issue BKAC (Between Keyboard And Chair)
but I could find no such problem. And then the issue died.

So if anybody actually knows how to solve this it would be appreciated.

Hmm. Well, there might be other issues involved with migrating that I
don’t know about, but you must have this set properly in my.cnf, or
you’re dead from the git-go. This has been true at least as far back as
mysql 3.2 (something), as I had to set this when I first installed
bugzilla, 3 years ago.

So, if you’ve a new rt3 install, this is probably good enough. If
you’re migrating from RT2, there might be something else needed in
addition.

setting

max_allowed_packet = 5M

in /etc/my.cnf and restarting the db did the trick. Thanks, folks.

Did you check that your setting actually took effect, e.g. by doing a
‘mysqladmin variables | grep max_allowed_packet’?
