Seeing updates

My users are not so happy about the flood of email that they get when
someone replies to tickets, but without the watcher email notifications,
they don’t know that a ticket has had a reply. Is there a way to show
tickets that have had replies since the last outgoing message, or does
anyone have a better solution than email alerts? Maybe a list of alerts
with links to the tickets?
