RT2 MySQL DB pruning?

[ben@requests mysql]$ du -h rt2
3.3G rt2

Hrrrm.

Anyone have any experience with thinning down the database? It is getting
rather unwieldy.

I know that slicing tickets out entirely is a no-no, but I was thinking
that a good way to do it would be to replace all “Hi I am a body” and “Hi I
am an attachment” fields on Dead tickets with “”. Anyone have experience
with this? I am non-SQL savvy.

TIA!

A few days ago, I posted a modified version of a script to remove dead tickets
from the database; have a look back in the mailing list archives.

I think the real problem here is that he is a university CS
professor and therefore knows very little about programming in the real
world, in any languge.
