Hi,
Has anyone tried routing alerts from Big Brother (www.bb4.com)
into RT? I don’t want to hack too much on either RT or BB; I’d
rather have a filtration or conversion layer (vs code patches) so I
can upgrade RT and BB easily. My end goal is a somewhat free
and sensible ‘NOC-in-a-box’.
Anyway, I’m just looking for opinions and anecdotal experience
before I start working on this in earnest. Also, I’ve heard good
things about ‘mon’ (similar to BB but GPL’d); experiences
combining those two would be helpful as well since I’m not
completely sold on using BB.
Thanks much,
– Bob

Yes:
/opt/bb/etc/warnrules:
computer.letras.de;;conn disk msgs smtp;;0 6;*;netadm@letras.de …
where netadm@letras.de is (/etc/mail/aliases on another box):
netadm: BB-Alerts and stuff
netadm: |“/opt/rt/bin/rt-mailgate netadm correspond”
netadm-action: |“/opt/rt/bin/rt-mailgate netadm action”
Works great, as there are three people monitoring this queue, so
when I get paged, I can take a look into RT and see, if someone else
is already working on this (or confirmed it as a false alarm).
