RT-4.0.5 : Can't do Simple Search on Articles

In RT-3.8.8 we could do simple search on the RTFM articles, but, in RT-4.0.5
we cannot.

Also I noticed the test RT-4.0.5 instance on Best Practical’s website that
RTFM is included in the “Home” Pulldown but ours is not.

Maybe there’s a simple config change we can make to the RT_SiteConfig.pm
file ?

Thanks in advance,
Scott

we cannot.

It should still exist, you’re going to need to tell us more about what
pages it appeared on in 3.8 that it doesn’t appear on in 4.0

Hi Kevin,

When I login to RT 3.8.8 I find myself at the “RT at a glance”. From here I click on ‘RTFM’ to the left and I have a Search area and a button that allows me to do a Simple Search on all my RTFM articles. Maybe on RT 4.0.5 it has changed but for the life of I cannot find it.

Thanks,

Thanks, I found that too, but, it only gives me the ability to search in
certain Classes of Articles, or, Load Saved Searches.

What is missing is the “Simple Search” that was in RT 3.8.8 that allowed you
to search “All” articles, this is what I cannot find.

If it is there please let me know, if not it would make RT 4.0.5 on par with
what is on RTFM within RT 3.8.8 if it were fixed.
Basically we really need this ability to search “All” articles badly,

Thanks,
Scott

I believe this is a bug within RT 4 or an oversight as regards Articles and
’Simple Search’ not being available.

If and one knows if there is a way to have ‘Simple Search’ on all Articles
for RT 4.0.5 please let me know.

Thanks,
Scott

It’d be great to see a bug filed, it appears that the search is
included in RT but wasn’t added to Elements/Tabs. It should be
straightforward to resolve.

Thanks Kevin I filed a bug report.

Thanks Kevin I filed a bug report.

I’ve fixed the subject on ticket 20176 so it’s easier to keep track of.

Any update on this ? It’s driving our users crazy that they can’t do a
simple search in Articles - it’s how we run our support/services
knowledgebase.

As noted on the ticket when I last had time to code dive and try to
fix it, the resolution was more complicated than hoped (it wasn’t just
adding the search back in, it needed refactoring of the Tabs code to
support it).

While it’s still on my radar and still linked to a release, there’s
not yet a branch for review.

I am bringing this back up as we are finding it still is not working in the current version?

It looks like the issue created by this original thread was fixed and released as part of RT 4.0.11.

https://docs.bestpractical.com/release-notes/rt/4.0.11 (* Bring back an Article quick search missing since before 4.0.0.)

Could you provide more info on what version you are running and what you are seeing? It might need a new topic.
