RT 3.2/3.4 and mod_perl 2.0

Just wondering what the status of RT and mod_perl 2.0 is, now that mod_perl is approaching a stable (?) 2.0 release. Will that be a large step towards better Apache 2.0 support for RT?

Personally, I’m still not big on using apache2 in production. But
Autrijus is. RT 3.4 has better support for mp2 than 3.2 did.
The latest version of Mason (1.27) has much better support
for Apache2/mod_perl2. Yesterday, autrijus presented me with the first
version of a patch to enable much simpler and cleaner modperl 2 support
in 3.4. He’s currently working on a new test suite for it to ensure that
it doesn’t cause regressions on other platforms.

In short, it should work now. It should work even better once mod_perl
2.0 is actually released and we take autrijus’ latest patch.

We’re running 3.2.2 under Apache 2 and mod_perl2 here on a Dell dual
p3/500 xeon box under FreeBSD 4 and it’s working very well. I’ve seen
no problems that I could attribute back to mod_perl or apache2.
Performance is quite good.
