map to ids in the principals table. (IE an entity’s principals.id is always
the same as that entity’s users.id or groups.id. this cuts way down
on the number of bogus joins with Principals we need to do, as well as with
the oddness of figuring out whether a table is referring to a principals.id
or a users.id
