No RT user found

G’Day
I have installed RT 2.0.11 on a Red Hat 7.2 box.
I have setup variables for MySql for user=rt_user and password=rt_pass.
However when I try to add users to the RT system either with:
./rtadmin --user=rt_user --password=‘rt_pass’
or
./rtadmin --user=root --password=xyz
I get the following error:

No RT user found. Please consult your RT administrator.

So how do I add a user? Or what have I messed up?
I’ve looked at the lists, faq and docos and cant find anything to help

Did you add the rt_user to the rt2 database (eg, with mysql_setpermissions (in the mysql RPM - I used 3.23.41-1))?
I couldn’t get through the RT2 install without adding the RT user halfway through, because install tries to connect as rt_user after creating the DB.

You have not defined a Unix login for the root user. Log in as root via
the WebUI, Configuration, Users, Root, and add ‘root’ to ‘Unix login’.
From then on, you’ll be able to use the rtadmin cli with the RT ‘root’
privileges as the Unix ‘root’ user.

So how do I add a user? Or what have I messed up?

You have read http://www.fsck.com/rtfm/factoid.html?id=79 ?

Jeff,
I did add the rt_user - I can access mysql and check tables etc. I cant
access RT either via the Web UI or the Command line.
Both these result in the “No RT user found. Please consult your RT
administrator.” message.
Any further ideas?

Problem is I cant find a valid user/password combination that is valid to
login to whe WebUI with.
A bit of a catch 22 problem.

‘root’, ‘password’.

( One does assume that one has read the README  )
