How to make a field mandatory

I would like to know how to make a field mandatory in RT, custom field for
instance.

When setting up a Custom Field there is a section called VALIDATION – you can make a field mandatory there.

Thank you Sally for your answer,

When chosing (?#Mandatory) as a value in the VALIDATION section of the
custom field, it actually become mandatory, but the message that appears in
the form says something like that : Field must match the mandary field,
Is there a possibility to customise that message to be some like ‘Mandatory
field’
