Group rights assignment

I am planning to have several groups manage different queues. I don’t have any problems with this one.

I want to have an admin group with users to manage all other groups… somehow I can’t make it work right.

Admin group is a member of both Groups A and B. Users assigned to the Admin group should be able to fully managed Groups A and B. So they will take care of adding, removing, viewing group members.

What is the correct way to do this? Global rights assignment or Group Rights Assignment under each Group? Really got confused…

I didn’t try it but as far as I understand, it must be set under group A and B group rights.

It is possible to set as a global right or set as group’s groupRight to manage memberships.

Use GlobalRights if Admin-Group has to manage all groups in system,
use group’s group rights if Admin-Group has to manage singel groups only.

Ah: There is no need to make the Admin-Group a member of Group-A an B to manage memberships!

Maybe this produces the confusion.

The Admin-Group has to be a member only if included Users has to manage SavedSearches, Dashboards and so on. In this case it has to be a member because you can not load a SavedSearch if you’re not memeber of the Group it belongs to.

So our Group-admins make themselve member of Group-A, configure Dashboards and remove themselve as member after finishing the Dashboard.

If these are your needs, yes, it’s enough to add/remove themselves from the groups. I’m doing the same.
