CVS Update: DBIx

Excellent. I wonder if there’d be a way to hook cvs commit messages into RT such that
when i commit a log message it gets added to the ticket as correspondence or comment.

Hmmm … not easy. It should be possible to make a hack,
like letting the post-commit mail script generate a correct subject line
if the commit message starts with a number (the ticket id). Or we might
add a special action in the mailgate which reads the ticket id from
another place in the mail.

I think this may call for a specialized gateway. I’ve seen people do this with bugzilla, I think.
It would be useful for us here, i think.

We will need hooks for user-customized actions anyway. We’ve forgotten
about that. I think it’s just as important as the Scrips hook.

What do you mean here?

Linux is like a Vorlon. It is incredibly powerful, gives terse,
cryptic answers and has a lot of things going on in the background.

For the case above a specialized mailgate must clearly be the best. But I
can imagine that people might want customized transaction types - most
important specialized Link transactions. Those customized transaction
types must be available through all three UIs.

Ah. For now, let’s leave the generalized transaction thing alone. I can see it for links
in 2.0 but other stuff is going to be more difficult and is likely to slow us down a lot.

Transporters are so ungodly. if god had wanted us to travel great distances
instantaneously, he would have given us an internal
materialisation/dematerialisation control.

Eventually. Or maybe not, maybe it will be more difficult to retrofix it.
I will at least try to think a bit and mail some design thoughts.
