Changing the subject of a request

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what script I should be looking
at in rt1.0.7 if I wish to modify the subject of a request as it comes in ie.
I want to append to the subject so that the appended value shows when the rt
queue is viewed.

eg.

message sent to rt has subject: “How do I do this”

subject in rt is : “How do I do this - XXXXXXXWhatever”

IIRC, rt/lib/rt/support/mail.pm should be the right place, but I may be wildly off the mark.
