Authenticated outgoing email

Hi,

I am successfully using rt50 which imports tickets from email for several queues by means of fetchmail/pop3 from exchange server, while sending email over local postfix.

I would like to implement authenticated email sending over exchange server.

Is this possible with rt?

I tried some setups but failed. I can provide more info if needed.

Thank you in advance.

Does your exchange instance allow SMTP relay? You can install Postfix and configure the relay for outgoing

That’s how I do it now. Local postifix relays to exchange by means of allowlisted IP address in its receive connector, which makes exchange accept all emails from that IP address.

I would like to avoid allowlisting in exchange, and have RT submit messages to local dma which would then submit emails to exchange, authenticated.

dma’s auth.conf is as follows:

queue1@example.org|exchange.example.org:somepassword
queue2@example.org|exchange.example.org:somepassword

When I submit mail with sendmail -f queue1@example.org recipient@example.org it gets correctly authenticated by exchange and delivered to recipients mailbox. But it doesn’t work from rt. I get:

exchange.example.org [192.0.2.145] did not like our final DATA:
550 5.7.60 SMTP; Client does not have permissions to send as this sender

Message headers follow.

RT’s configuration for outgoing mail is minimalist:

Set( $MailCommand, 'sendmailpipe');
Set( $SendmailPath, '/usr/sbin/sendmail');

Any ideas how to troubleshoot?
