Anyway to make a Custom Field a checkbox list?

AS the subject states, is there anyway to change the default behaviour of
the Custom Field set as “select multiple” into a checkbox list?

Checkboxes are much more user friendly then a list that you have to
ctrl+click multiple values.

Checkboxes are much more user friendly then a list that you have to
ctrl+click multiple values.

RT 4.0 has this feature. When you create select one/many custom field,
you can pick style. List style gives you checkboxes for multiple
selection.
