Any BenchMarkings?

Dear all,

I am to setup RT. I did some searches to see if any benchmarkings were
done for RT as what OS had it worked fine on and with no such critical
problems reported.

For the moment I am using Ubuntu 8.04 Server just to see as how it
performs in there. Any other updates or Benchmarkings done my any of
other fellow users would be highly appreciable.

Suggestions are welcome too!

With Regards,

Gaurav

I doubt it makes very much difference what OS you use. I use Debian,
and it’s fine. So Ubuntu will be fine also.

I found that ubuntu has pre-built packages for the purpose but I think
building it on self would be more better compared to those apt installs,
though recommendations come first!!

I have not found to my record but does RT has any issues with vm
machines (any one ever encountered issues with virtual machines).

My current production RT uses the packages of 3.4.2 which came with
Debian Sarge. That worked fine, and the package maintainers have
worked hard to make sure you can still customise it sensibly.

I’m currently evaluating RT 3.8.0, on an Etch system. Obviously there
are no pre-built debs this time, so I’m doing it the normal way. It’s
worth noting that RT 3.8 requires several perl modules at a more
recent revision than that available in Etch, so I had to upgrade
them. In Ubuntu Hardy Heron, you might have more luck, since that’s
more recent, and it may work out of the box, although you’ll probably
still have to install some perl modules which Debian (and therefore
probably Ubuntu) don’t have packaged yet.

I don’t see why it should. It’s usually pretty hard to tell you’re on
a virtual machine at all, let alone finding any problems with it.

Hi,

RT inside VM is running fine, we use it in some installations. We also use it under Mac OSX Tiger and Leopard without Problems. Our Production is running under RHEL 4 und AIX5. The Test System is under CentOS5.

All are working fine. All are manual installed RT Versions.

As I already said here, I made needed packages for etch here:

this can help you

We’ve run RT 3.6.4 on Gentoo for a long time but, more recently, have
three xen virtual machines running CentOS 5.x with misc other versions
of RT 3.6 + 3.8 for testing and development. No problems.

Cool, sorry, I missed that before. Excellent. That will save me a
lot of effort when I make a production system.
