I want to make a new field to assign to tickets, that contains a customer
ID (see my previous email) Is that something that’s easily possible, or
will that require some database hacking as well? At this stage, a simple
text entry field for each ticket would be ideal.
This looks promising:

your best bet is by using the Links/Relationships stuff to have the tickets
