You’re in luck, I am one of the maintainers of the Debian packages. 
I thought I’d added this fix to our packages, when I checked yesterday I found that I hadn’t. Please raise a bug in the Debian Bug Tracking System against the request-tracker5 package.
I don’t import group membership from LDAP, so I can’t really help there. However, there are a few different ways to represent group membership in LDAP. Do you have RT configured using the method in use in Samba?
