Where does Authentication happen?

Can someone point me to the module(s) that handles RT’s authentication? I
guess RT is handling auth all on its own, without hooking into
PerlAuthenHandler and friends? Just a quick point in the right direction
would be appreciated.

RT knows how to examine REMOTE_USER.
