Using SOAP with RT?

Hi,

I posted a message a while back about “RT / SOAP / XML-RPC”.

As a follow-up, I was wondering if anyone currently on this list is using
SOAP to communicate with RT?

Is anyone using Jesse’s beta/preview version of the rt-soap-server? If so,
how are you using it? Would you have any examples?

Thanks,

Scott

For what it’s worth, we recommend against using the SOAP server in
production. We found perl’s SOAP libraries to be far too brittle to
rely upon.

Best,
Jesse

Thanks for the info Jesse,

What would be your recommendation if we want to have a java application
communicate to RT to set custom fields for a particular ticket?

Thanks,

Does this by any chance have to do with some form of Ant integration?

Actually it has to do with StarTeam Change Requests. You can customize these
Change Requests using a Java Form. I must update RT Tickets based on changes
to a particular Change Request.

Essentially, I wanted a standard way to exchange data between these two
applications via HTTP. I thought SOAP was the way to go, but Jesse has
suggested I look into making use of RT’s REST api.

Thanks
