Slightly OT: suidperl on RH 8.0 broken out into it's own RPM

Hello,
Trying to setup my own apache 1.3.27 server with fastCGI on RedHat 8.0,
I managed not to get this to run. This was strange, since I upgraded
the system from a perfectly running RH7.2 system. Turns out RH split up
their perl packages and suidperl now has to be installed separately -
but this is noted nowhere obvious.

They broke up a lot of packages in new and interesting ways. At least
they should have taught that to their update routine. Maybe this is why
apache-2.0.40/mod_perl didn’t work before? I now have a running system

  • won’t break it unneccessarily again.

Regards,
Harald
