RT3.0.3 - Ticket search - System Error

Hi,

I’ve been having fun with the Ticket search screen and have found more
and more occurrances of errors.

1 - Doing a search for all tickets (by showing where priority<1000) says
"Found 10 tickets" at the top, but only lists seven.

2 - Doing a ticket search with multiple criteria which results in no
matches found generates a “System Error” as below (which was caused with
queue=general, status!=rejected, status!=resolved):

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not moaning. From what I’ve seen, RT is probably
the best thing since sliced bread and I’m very happy with what’s there -
it’s just a few niggles I have at the moment.

The system is: RT 3.0.3, Apache 2.0.40, mod_perl2 & Sendmail on RedHat 9

Many thanks,

Nick Barnes.

I’m seeing this after a restart of apache, but reload the page and it’s
gone. Seems like it’s just having problems with sessions when RT is
restarted but the user is still logged in.

I’m new to RT, so don’t take my comments as the “final
word”, but my experience is that RT counts all tickets
found, even deleted tickets, in the ticket count. But
it only DISPLAYS the non-deleted tickets.

Have you deleted some tickets? It’s my understanding
they never actually get purged from the database (the
archives hold some talk about ways to actually do so)
but rather sit in a deleted state.

Jason Diegmueller

I’m new to RT, so don’t take my comments as the “final
word”, but my experience is that RT counts all tickets
found, even deleted tickets, in the ticket count. But
it only DISPLAYS the non-deleted tickets.

Hmmmm.

OK, I deleted a ticket to test what’s happening and it now says “Found 9
tickets” and displays six!

If I change the criteria to “queue=complaints, queue=general” (the only
two queues I’ve got), it then says “Found 10 tickets” and still only
displays six.

Doing a search for “status=deleted” says “Found 4 tickets” and lists
none.

Either I’m seriously misunderstanding what it’s meant to do (which I’m
quite prepared to accept), or something kooky’s going on!

Cheers,

Nick.

Hi,

I’ve been having fun with the Ticket search screen and have found more
and more occurrances of errors.

1 - Doing a search for all tickets (by showing where priority<1000) says
“Found 10 tickets” at the top, but only lists seven.

The “count” is a quick count performed directly by the database. It
doesn’t take RT’s access control into account. The tickets you you see
are those you have access to see. Changing this would be a really big
performance hit. Changing the wording might be good though.
“Found about 10 tickets”?

2 - Doing a ticket search with multiple criteria which results in no
matches found generates a “System Error” as below (which was caused with
queue=general, status!=rejected, status!=resolved):

I think that’s actually a bug in the version of Storable.pm that RedHat
ships with 9.0.

Ah.

I think I prefer ‘approximately’ or ‘approx.’.

But logged in as the user ‘root’ (who has all privs. under the sun)
should enable me to see all the tickets, shouldn’t it?

Hmmm. Installed Storable-2.07, restarted everything and I’m still seeing
the same problem. Is there anything else I need to update as well?

Cheers,

Nick.

To see what’s going on behind the scenes, turn on mysql’s query logging
and execute the SELECT main.* from Tickets… query and see what results
its leaving out.

Dunno. But I’ve only heard of the problem on redhat 9.

Cheers,

Nick.
