We’re getting ready to swing our RT box from ‘testbox’ to ‘production’ -
this requires a domain change from a ‘private’ edge network to something
inside the corporate domain.
I seem to remember precautions against ever changing the domain name in
the Makefile and config.pm.
Are we better off doing ‘make dropdb’ and starting fresh on the new
domain, or is there a reasonable means of pulling this off?

We did that here without a problem – I installed and tested ‘RT’ on a
test domain with my name in it. To go live I just copied and pasted the
appropriate ‘Apache’ stanza, changed the URL settings in
config.pm, and stop-started 'Apache.
