RT-4.2.0 on Ubuntu 9.10

Hello all,

I’m new to RT but familiar with Ubuntu system and programming stuff.

I got Ubuntu 9.10 running and I was wondering/hoping if I can install
RT-4.2.0?

Or do I need latest version on Ubuntu to run RT-4.2.0?

Or should I just download the binaries and compile it from source?

Any feedback will be highly appreciated.

Cheers,
Nitesh

If you haven’t started yet and it is at all possible, you should get a newer version of Ubuntu going. Support for 9.10 ended about two years ago.

12.04 is a “long term support” release that will keep getting updates until late 2017. By that time you will hopefully have upgraded to 14.04, which will be the next LTS release.

I concur with Kendric,

I have run RT on Ubuntu since 8.04. I recently upgraded from 3.4.8 to
4.0.17 and found it much easier to install it from sources on 12.04 than
use the repositories.

I would suggest a clean 12.04 and install from source.

Just my 2 cents…

Kendric/Paul,

Thanks for your prompt response…

I guess I will give a shot with clean install and new box.

Much appreciate!
