RT 3.8.0 release candidate 2!

The second release candidate for RT 3.8.0 is now available. You can
download it at:

It’s currently my expectation to release RT 3.8.0 sometime during the
week of July 7. There may or may not be a 3rd release candidate
before the final release, but we’re not currently aware of any shows-
topper bugs which would require that.

I know some translators are working on updated localizations, but I’ve
been a bit derelict in my duties about calling for revised
translations. Emmanuel Lacour mentioned that if I failed to do the
translator-wrangling, he may have time to step up.

Changes since RC1:

* numerous small bugs fixed with dashboards
* numerous small bugs fixed with ticket relationship charts
* Restore (add) the ability to get ticket graphs by owner/requestor/

cc/admincc
* Additional Perl 5.10 compatibility fixes

* IMPORTANT: Fix a bug which could cause RT to be unable to receive

mail if configured to write to an unwritable temporary directory.
(No data loss would occur. But your company might hypothetically
see a delay in ticket email if RT were misconfigured)

* Makefile code duplication removed

* CSS: Improved layout of page header and search UI on many browsers
* CSS: styling cleanups
* CSS: added focus and hover effects to buttons

Thanks Jesse and team for all your hard work.

3.8.0rc2 looks and works fantastic on our dev environment so far and
includes many features we’d either been planning to add manually to
3.6 or were just hoping would be added eventually.

I encountered a couple of issues upgrading 3.6.1 to 3.8.0rc2 on
postgresql so have filed bug report and added a patch (ticket #9829).

Looking forward to 3.8.0 final shortly.

Tom

I installed it and have two things:

  • I setup a dashboard and let it email me. The layout isn’t what I
expected. I expected a list of tickest or whatever the search outputs
but it looks like a complete page including menus.
  • I found that the layout of the ticket metadata shifts when the Links
block contains links to other tickets/articles/assets. The right column
gets wider. Normally its split almost through the middle. If I’m not
    clear I can make screenshots.

That’ll be a little better in the next release. I cut out all the
extraneous page crap. I do like having the HTML tables because it lets
you choose which fields to show.

That was an intentional change. I suppose if you link to tickets with
long subjects it would look pretty bad. We’ll revisit this change.
