RT 3.5.1 - Don't try this at home, kids

THIS DEVELOPMENT RELEASE IS NOT INTENDED FOR PRODUCTION DEPLOYMENT

I’m pleased to announce RT 3.5.1. This is the first public development
release in the 3.5 development series. Eventually, the RT 3.5
development series will result in the release of RT 3.6, RT 4.0 or
some other marketing-friendly version number like RT 2005.

RT 3.5 features all sorts of new goodies, like:

  • A move to full CSS-based layout

  • Validated custom fields

  • Mandatory custom fields

  • Combobox custom fields

  • Categorized or cascading custom fields

  • A new “simple search” UI

  • A new “reminders” system that lets you quickly
define “Next Actions” for a ticket

  • RT’s home page is now completely customizable per-user

  • Search formatting preferences

  • A built in reporting engine. (Generate tables and graphs for any
    ticket search)

  • More tests than ever before

…and much more.

Oh, and the current default CSS stylesheet is unusably bad. It’s in the
middle of an overhaul and just doesn’t look very pretty. New styles for
RT are most definitely welcome.

You can grab the latest release from:

Please download and play with it. Patches and bug reports are most
welcome, but if RT 3.5.1 eats your data, eats your children or doesn’t
work as advertised, well, I told you so.

Best,
Jesse
