"Push" RT at a Glance updates?

Occasionally I create searches that would be useful for all my users. I
would like to add these to everyone’s home page without disturbing their
customizations. Does anyone have a solution or recommendation?

I created a component and added it to everyone’s front page. When I
need to change something on everyone’s page, I change it in that component.

Most recently I did this with a modernized variation on
http://wiki.bestpractical.com/view/TicketsPerQueue
