Problems with email relay

Im running RT 3.0.12, and i need to change the time
intervals that emailrelay uses to send notifications.
Right now, it’s set to 4 minutes, so if a requestors
address is mistyped say instead of .com the typed .cm,
the RT start building corresondances under the
ticket(each correspondance is of a mail delivery
subsystem saying that the person couldnt be reached),
and when you try to open a ticket that big, it
consumes a lot of the server resources.

any thoughts ?
