(newbie) Initial user/password on clean install?

Hi, I just setup based on a fresh aegis checkout, and I think I’ve got
it running OK, but I can’t get logged in. I’ve tried a lot of different
things picking around, including “root”/“password” which looks like the
super user default, but no joy. I just keep getting the “Your username
or password is incorrect” message.

Which version of RT/Apache/mod_perl/fastcgi/MySQL are You using? There
might be various reasons for this, depending on what You installed.
Please elaborate.

Harald

RT was fresh from Aegis yesterday, if you tell me where to find the
version number, I’ll tell you what it is.

This is on RedHat 8.0, completely up to date, as far as up2date is
concerned.
Mysql is version 3.23.54a-4
Apache is httpd-2.0.40-11
I told RT to use modperl2

Where would the log files be? I’ve looked in /var/log and
/opt/rt3/var/log as well as the httpd logs and didn’t see any messages.

Apache2 is not recommended when using RT 3. You should switch to
apache-1.3.x instead - it is much more stable. RedHat’s mod_perl is
also an 1.99 prerelease. If possible, use fastcgi.

A bit odd, I went in to SiteConfig and set LogToFile to 1, restarted
httpd again and now I can log in!?!?!?
