"How to eviscerate fish" or get information from e-mails


is there an easy way to analyze incoming tickets for custom fields, such
as “CustomerNo: 1234567890” and automatically enter that number into the
corresponding ticket’s custom field “CustomerNo”?

I think that might be mighty useful :slight_smile:


I answered this question yesterday on this list.

I have mods to do this. They are more general in some ways,
lacking in security, and not all the ways are well tested.
However, my need was exactly this – to set a custom field
upon create by parsing a special email format. So that
particular function definitely works.

it all to the contrib section, but I prefer to have it
vetted a bit first.
