CustomField Type Date

I’ve seen some mention in the archives about having a CustomField as a
"Date" type (like the regular Dates in a ticket), but nothing plain
enough for me to create such a CustomField.

So the short question is: How do I make a CustomField that is of a type
"Date", ideally with a “choose a date” link beside it?

There still a problem that search comparaison on those CFs don’t fully
works as expected (not true date field in the DB).
