Custom Fields from Email

Has anyone had any great success filling custom fields from the inbound email? This is for Ticket generation primarily.

This is one of the features our Business Team are asking for, but I can’t see any easy way of implementing this.

The email will be generated from an external cgi mail gateway and our RT tool is hidden on an internal server behind several layers of firewall.

There is a custom scrip “ExtractCustomFieldValue” (in contrib area)
which can be used for this.
