Bug on chart ? on RT3.8 postrgresql 8.3

Hello everyone,

New to the list, (should lurk before post, I know)

after having installed rt3.8 from
deb http://debian.etc.gen.nz etch rt
with a postgresql 8.3
with a rt 3.8 version I have when trying to graph data based on time the
following error in my log

Mar 11 18:29:03 XXXXXXX RT: RT::Handle=HASH(0x3204970) couldn’t execute
the query ‘SELECT COUNT(main.id) AS id, SUBSTR(LastUpdated,1,10) AS
lastupdateddaily FROM Tickets main WHERE (main.Status != ‘deleted’) AND
(main.id > ‘0’) AND (main.Type = ‘ticket’) AND (main.EffectiveId =
main.id) GROUP BY SUBSTR(LastUpdated,1,10) ’ at
/usr/share/perl5/DBIx/SearchBuilder/Handle.pm line 518
^IDBIx::SearchBuilder::Handle::SimpleQuery(‘RT::Handle=HASH(0x3204970)’,
‘SELECT COUNT(main.id) AS id, SUBSTR(LastUpdated,1,10) AS last…’) called
at /usr/share/perl5/DBIx/SearchBuilder.pm line 238
^IDBIx::SearchBuilder::_DoSearch(‘RT::Report::Tickets=HASH(0x5811660)’)

at /usr/share/request-tracker3.8/lib/RT/Report/Tickets.pm line 228
^IRT::Report::tickets::Next(’

So I opened pgsql to find that

SELECT count(main.id) AS id, substr( CAST ( LastUpdated AS TEXT ) , 1 ,10
) AS lastupdateddaily FROM Tickets main WHERE (main.Status != ‘deleted’)
AND (main.id > ‘0’) AND (main.Type = ‘ticket’) AND (main.EffectiveId =
main.id) GROUP BY substr( CAST ( LastUpdated AS TEXT ) , 1 ,10 )

Worked better.

Is this an old bug or a current one ? How can I patch my rt so that the
cast is included ?

Best regards, Ruslan.

Dear All,
Is there a chat room to the Group.
I try to install RT on Debian Etch , but the installation steps is not enough to me , now I installed but no color in the login page.
I am going to follow fastcgi steps. but If any one has a document for Debian Etch , please email me with it.
Best wishes,
Shaekir,

Dear All,

Firstly, this is not an RT Development issue, it is a use issue, hence
you should use RT-Users@lists.bestpractical.com not RT-Devel.

Please read through the wiki for guidance. It will refer you to the RT
IRC channel. I’m not going to tell you where it is so that you /do/go
and read the wiki :slight_smile:

You won’t get e-mailed such a document as it has already been documented
on the wiki and there is a lot of information in the RT-Users list archives.

I recommend following the “Manual Install” procedure.

I just noticed a very similar problem when someone did a search for
User.id = ‘CurrentUser’, which failed after turning into
LOWER(User.id) in the actual query. Is there a systematic way to get
the Postgres backend to check types or is the answer something more
like “Use MySQL because it’s more tested”?

Chris

Nope, that means “help write tests for this features, luckily there
are plenty of examples in 3.8, so we can catch such problems during
automated testing we run on Pg/MySQL/SQLite and occasionally on
Oracle”.On Thu, Mar 26, 2009 at 9:38 PM, Chris Adams chris@improbable.org wrote:

Okay, so where should I start with something like that? Is there some
way to modify the User class so the SQL builder will always generic
integer references for id fields rather than playing whack-a-mole
hunting down every place which generates queries?

I suspect that you’re not familiar with RT’s internals. The easiest
way for you to start is to clone some t/ticket/search_by*.t and adjust
it to reproduce your problem.2009/3/27 Chris Adams chris@improbable.org:
