Bring on the clones

Hi,

Started using RT for some of my own projects; this is a feature I really
missed from the MAPS codebase; it’s kind of the conceptual opposite of a
"merge" - when someone sends in a ticket that contains multiple issues you
want to track separately. patch attached.

clone.patch (5.25 KB)

oops, sorry about the extraneous blib/ bit in there. I don’t have access
to the CVS server this stuff lives on anymore, just doing it by hand from
an outdated snapshot.

If you like, I can also dig up a “Forward” patch which turned out to be
much less of a kludge than I thought; it would be; you get a "forward"
link next to “Reply” and “Comment” in each transaction.

nod No biggie. Thanks! Any thoughts on how to get clone to best pick
up keywords and relationships?

That’d be great.

Any e-mail sent to the SLA will immediately become the intellectual property
of the SLA and the author of said message will enter into a period of
indentured servitude which will last for a period of time no less than seven
years.

When we used it at MAPS (and how I’m now using it for myself) we didn’t
want clone to pick up keywords and relationships; we used it during
triage where we wanted to follow two separate parts of the message in
different directions, so to speak.

It doesn’t look like you’ve applied this patch yet. Is this your only
objection or is there something else?

I’ve been pondering an alternate implementation of creating either on or a pair
of related or child tickets… Was there a reason you folks decided not to do
that at MAPS?
