Another int. character bug (3.0.4pre1) in Ticket/Update.html

if using Ticket/Update.html to change the subject of a message send to
customer, the subject is not converted correctly. Umlauts in the subject
are garbled in the mail and in the ticket transactions display.

I’m using 3.0.4RC1, with mod_perl1, mysql 4.0.13 and perl 5.8.0 and
can’t replicate this. Anyone else?

Dirk.

Hi,

I confirm I can replicate it with exactly the same setup as Jesse. Looking into it, I may have found one more clue.

  1. Created a ticket via mail WITHOUT ACCENTED CARACTERS IN SUBJECT and body.
  2. Went to Ticket/Update.html manually (because I don’t know where to click to go straight to this page)
  3. Sent mail to the user with subject and body full of accented caracters.
  4. Mail arrived with body OK but subject scrambled.

Then I tried it the way I usualy do this :

  1. idem
  2. Went to ModifiyAll.html with the interface.
  3. Modified subject to add plenty of accents
  4. Sent mail to user
  5. Result is OK

Then third test :

The problem appears only if the initial subject is not accented, and thus probably flagged as “ISO” somewhere. Adding accents later on can only be done by modifying the ticket subject, but can not be not in each answer individually.

Another problem appeared : When creating the ticket, the subject in the first transaction is displayed incorrectly if it contains accented caracters.

I can only replicate this issue with 5.6.1. I’m going to release 3.0.4
this weekend, without a fix for this issue (though it will be noted in
the release notes). We’ll keep hunting it, but have had no luck as yet.
3.0.4 contains so many other improvements across the board that I can’t
justify holding back the release for an issue that only a few users are
seeing that we can’t replicate.

Jesse

Hope this helps.

Blaise
