2.0 Status update

Yes. 2.0 has slipped. I don’t know how badly. There will be tools to
migrate 1.0.x to 2.0, when it comes about. It’s likely that the tools
will handle all the database backends cleanly  At the moment,
nobody has volunteered to do the postgresql port…though I certainly wouldn’t
object if someone were willing.

I’m not willing to pin a date on 2.0 at this point. There are a lot of
factors that might influence it…Some of which aren’t yet clear to me.
The previous schedule was rather agressive in order to meet certain
requirements that were placed on me…which have now slipped. grin

I’ll try to put together something somewhat comprehensive about the current
state of the universe soon.

If people have the time and inclination to hack on things, send me some
personal mail and I’d be more than happy to dole out work.

Just a quickie,
I’m looking at the project status on v2.0 online, and the release date for
v2.0RC1 is June 1st, with v2.0 pegged as June 30th. Are these dates still
realistic? I note that the page hasn’t been updated since Feb 29, so I’m kinda
presuming that these deadlines aren’t neccessarily accurate…
If not, when can we expect a release. And more to the point, for me, is there
a PostgreSQL port yet?
I’m also kinda curious as to whether there’ll be tools to migrate current
(1.0.1) to a postgreSQL backend?
I know the answer to these questions are actually, “A lot sooner if we didn’t
keep receiving annoying questions!”, but still, you have to ask.
Thanks for everything you do,

Agh … only one week left? Well, I agree with Jesse that it’s
a bit too optimistic to expect 2.0RC1 to be out by then, but anyway I
will demonstrate RT2 for the support department tomorrow (tuesday) at
15:00 GMT - and they will probably start using it the day after.
